Ptilonorhynchus violaceus
The male certainly lives up to his name - such a beautiful satin sheen. The female and younger ones are very pretty in their own ways and together they make a fine pair, with their gorgeous blue eyes. They are regular visitors to the birdbaths and enthusiastic bathers. A couple of the male's bowers have been discovered not too far away, decorated with all manner of blue or purple bric a brac.
