Eulogy for Elsje
by Judith
Miller
So hard to believe that my
friend of 47 years is gone. We shared so much history over those years,
despite distance, and Elsje was probably always better at keeping the connection
going, especially when emails ''came into vogue''.
Our
friendship began at Norlane High School along with Cathryn,
Elsje and my love of horses. It continued over our
school years with weekend stays at each others homes.
We enjoyed the Pillekers family's hospitality and got to
love the Dutch specialities of salt licorice, ollie bollen,
strong black filtered coffee with hot milk, speculaas,
applestrop, not to mention listening to Henk, practicing the
Shadows music on his guitar
We also
shared holidays at Daylesford in a caravan in the Summer
with Elsje's Mum and Dad. Long days swimming and
boating in the lake. All memorable, wonderful times.
We
enjoyed the Lara teenage dancing classes and Socials and
learnt all the'' latest moves'' from the TV to perfect our
version of the ''GO GO'' dance
Time
passed, Elsje moved to Melbourne then Sydney, but despite
that we managed to keep abreast of all the latest
additions to our family. We managed to enjoy holidays
and ''time out'' at each others homes with or without the
children.
Elsje
was a FANTASTIC FRIEND, a great entertainer, a person who
loved a good time, and a good joke. Never moody, she
was a positive resilient character, wise with her advice.
She loved and cared so much about her family and we (her
friends) in turn loved her.
Sydney
will never be the same without Elsje there.
''Take
Care'' Love always.

P.S.
Such a brief amount of words for such a great person, but we
have so many memories. Words are not enough!
